Olympic bronze medallist, Fiona Crackles, returns to Durham
(27 September 2021)
After an outstanding performance at the Tokyo Olympics, Fiona Crackles returned to Durham last week to unveil a display in her honour in our Wall of Fame.
Fiona, who won bronze with the GB senior women's hockey team out in Tokyo, is the first current Durham Univeristy student to win an Olympic medal. On Wednesday 15th September, Fiona returned to the Sports and Wellbeing Park to meet with the University Council and reveal her display for the first time.
Fiona then went on to meet and coach a group of aspiring young hockey players at our Durham Hockey Juniors sessions where she spent her time chatting to all the player and answering any questions that they had for her.
Fiona siad of the whole experience, "It was great to be back in Durham and it was all an overwhelming experience, I feel very lucky to have a display in my name."
We know there will be big things on the horizon for Fiona and we can't wait to continue to follow and support her on her journey.
