BUCS update on 'Return to Play' planning
(14 January 2021)
BUCS have released a statement cancelling the 2020/21 league and knockout season in line with the latest Government guidance and lockdown measures which, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, limit the ability to train, play and compete in sport across the UK.
No individual events will take place before March 2021 and it is hoped that such events can be postponed and will take place, if at all possible at a later date, when it is safe to do so. Information on sport specific events will be on each individual sport page on the BUCS website and can be found here.
Team Durham understands that it will come as a major disappointment to all of our athletes who were hoping to compete as part of a BUCS team this year, however, the priority remains with ensuring the student, staff and community stay safe during these unprecedented times.
As a University, we will continue to follow the guidance laid out by the Government and support our students to maintain their physical and mental wellbeing, digitally for now, via our online pages which can be found here, until changes allow sporting activity to restart in, hopefully, the not too distant future.
