DURFC continue their charitable and community work
(27 November 2020)
DURFC have faced a tough Michaelmas Term, with guidelines preventing them from playing, they have been forced to adapt and connect in other ways. Nevertheless, they have shown true club spirit and have been involved in a number of key initiatives that have both kept them busy and built on the good work that they have done in the community over the last few years.
Firstly, the annual Movember campaign has been an enormous success, and the club have broken their fundraising record yet again. At the time of writing, the total stands at £7,612 - an incredible achievement.

Working with the Community
The rugby club have also looked to increase their engagement within the local community this term. Their first initiative, an inaugural Food Bank challenge, was a huge success. As a club, they donated over 335kg of food for the Durham food bank.
They have also continued to develop their relationship with Durham City RFC, which has particularly flourished over the last two years. Over the last few weeks, club members have been assisting the Durham City (DC) with a number of housekeeping tasks, including repainting the changing rooms and installing benches overlooking the pitch.
We're really proud of all the work DURFC have done during this difficult period. The club has continued to thrive in the face of challenges they have been faced with, demonstrating a strong sense of togetherness and unity. This will provide a fantastic foundation for the club moving into the Epiphany Term and beyond.
