Team Durham gyms set to re-open next week

(27 November 2020)

We are delighted to announce that both The Fitness Centre and Queens Campus Sports Centre gyms will be re-opening, following the Government announcement. The Fitness Centre will open its doors again on the on the 2nd December and Queens Campus Sports Centre will follow suit on the 3rd.

From delivering live virtual classes via Teams to uploading pre-recorded content to their YouTube and Facebook channels, the staff have continued to work hard to give staff, students and community members every opportunity to stay active throughout lockdown.

Both centres are now excited to re-open their gyms with the same one way flow of users, rigorous cleaning regimes as well as a maximum user capacity as was experienced pre-lockdown 2.0.

All members, from either site, will be required to pre-book their session via our online system which is available at the following link:

Staff have worked hard to produce induction videos for both sites to familiarise yourself with these procedures. The videos outline the changes we have implemented to help ensure the gym is a safe environment as well as explaining the high standards of hygiene and compliance to guidance that we must all adhere to as a community of staff and members.

Please watch The Fitness Centre video here or the Queens Sports Centre video here.

Both sites will continue to deliver a combined online exercise programme, which will be released shortly, as well as updating their YouTube and social media accounts with pre-recorded sessions, helpful hits and tips to keep ensure that all users have the resources they need to maintain their physical and mental wellbeing through exercise activity.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our Fitness facilities soon!
