An international Christmas

(20 December 2015)

Not all Durham University students will be travelling home for the holidays. In this interview for BBC Radio, some of our international students explained how they will be celebrating the festive season here in Durham.

Students Pichi Charoepanit from Thailand and Magdelana Garzon-Fonseca from Mexico, spoke to BBC Radio Newcastle about their experiences of Christmas in the UK. The interview is accompanied by Durham University Chamber Choir singing the classic carol Silent Night.

A further 200 students will be enjoying a traditional Christmas lunch in the stunning surroundings of Durham Castle’s (University College’s) Great Hall on Christmas Day. As Professor Elizabeth Archibald, Principal of St Cuthbert’s Society explains, this event gives both home and international students the opportunity to enjoy a once in a lifetime experience.
