Prof Julian Horton publishes first English-language analytical monograph on Brahms' Second Piano Concerto

(12 May 2017)

Julian Horton's new book Brahms' Second Piano Concerto, Op. 83: Analytical and Contextual Studies, Analysis in Context IV (Leuven: Peeters, 2017) was published last week.

Nine years in the making, it constitutes the first analytical monograph on Brahms' Op. 83 in the English language.

The book contextualises analysis of the work in relation to Brahms' concept of the concerto, the development of the genre from Mozart to Schoenberg, problems in the theory of post-classical form, and interpretative questions of meaning and social function.

Full details of the publication can be found here.
