Advisor Meetings

Students with a Maths advisor must have an Easter term meeting with their advisor before they leave Durham to discuss next year’s module choices and exam feedback. This should normally take place between Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th June, but in exceptional circumstances can be held earlier in the last three weeks of term. You should contact your advisor personally to agree on a time for this meeting. Students can check who their Maths advisor is at http://www.maths.dur.ac.uk/Ug/student_advisor.php.

Module choice advice

You must choose next year's modules on DUO before the end of the Easter term, and before leaving Durham. You can get advice on module choices from the induction sessions and advisor meetings listed above, and you can also consult the University’s Faculty Handbook (https://www.dur.ac.uk/faculty.handbook/) and the Maths Module Description web pages (https://www.dur.ac.uk/mathematical.sciences/teaching/moduledescriptions/). Students without a Maths advisor who want to choose Maths modules next academic year, or any students who need any further advice on Maths modules, can contact either Beverly Forster or Sharon Etherington in CM201 or Professor Steve Abel in CM214. You can also email queries to maths.teaching@durham.ac.uk.

For those students from other department wanting to take a level 1 Maths module, you can find information on prerequisites, co-requisites, and excluded combinations at https://www.dur.ac.uk/mathematical.sciences/teaching/induction/elective/.

It is always the student's own responsibility to make sure that they have chosen a valid combination of modules and satisfied any pre-requisites. You accept the consequences of any delays to your registration if your choices are invalid and cannot be approved by the department by the end of the Easter term.
