Topological Solitons Seminar: Integrable defects

Presented by Prof Edward Corrigan, Durham University

3 February 2010 14:15 in CM221

It is intriguing that it is possible to allow discontinuities of various kinds in two dimensional field theory without losing the property of integrability. The purpose of this talk will be to review the story so far and to highlight a few unsolved problems. The discussion is likely to concentrate on classical field theory though there are also results and outstanding questions in quantum field theory, which may be mentioned.
