The role of Communications Project Officer is focussed on identifying, planning, managing and evaluating key marketing and communications projects, and in particular those which require the co-ordination of effort from disciplines across the Communications Office and the organisation. A methodical approach to solving complex marketing and communications problems and developing project plans and measurement criteria is required to ensure the effective delivery of projects.

Jayne is responsible for leading and motivating short-medium term project teams, allocating roles and responsibilities as necessary, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget.

Jayne has extensive knowledge of communications in the Higher Education sector having joined the University in 2000 to initially work within the Internal Communications Team. Jayne was instrumental in the setting up of a new Durham University Marketing Team in 2005 and was part of the project team that worked on the Durham University rebrand. Other brands Jayne has had responsibility for developing are Event Durham and YUM. Jayne has much experience and knowledge of creating, developing and working with brand guidelines and can offer advice and guidance where needed.

Although qualified in graphic design, Jayne would never profess to being a designer. However, her background in this area does give her an excellent understanding of the processes involved which is useful when managing over 18 different agencies in the areas of design, print, market research, direct mail, fulfilment and media buying.

Jayne loves spending time with family and friends, especially when it is combined with sharing her passion for art.  Favourite artists are Francesco Guardi and Canaletto along with her family artists, Albert and Jack Duplock.

Although Jayne knows only a little of the Italian language (which she aims to rectify soon) she loves exploring the country, the people, the wine and the food. Jayne  likes to dabble in Italian cooking and makes a mean risotto.
