Mrs Dionne Hamil
Dionne is responsible for promoting the research work and expertise of Durham’s academics to an international, national and regional audience.
She is the main contact for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health.
Dionne's remit spans internal and external communications, media relations, profile raising, reputation and crisis management and stakeholder liaison activities.
Background and expertise
Dionne is an experienced communicator with extensive experience in public and private sector public relations. She joined the communications team at Durham University in 2002. Prior to that, Dionne was a public relations officer for Newcastle Airport with responsibility for community, internal and media relations as well as crisis communications. She has also worked within the charity sector combining events organisation and media relations.
Outside work, Dionne likes to spend time with her family and explore the UK and beyond. She is a volunteer with Rainbow Trust Children's Charity and attempts to stay fit by running and cycling.
She also spends a lot of time by the side of football pitches and athletics tracks to watch her children train and compete!
