Loan periods and fines for journals

Borrowing journals

Current journals cannot be borrowed from Durham University Library.

Bound journals can only be borrowed from the Bill Bryson Library. You cannot borrow bound journals from the Leazes Road, Palace Green or Queen's Campus Libraries.

Using a borrowing machine

Loan periods vary. It is essential that you look at your receipt when you borrow a journal to check when it is due back. You will be fined for the late return of overdue items (see below).

Unpaid fines of £5 or more and/or non-return of overdue items will result in the withdrawal of borrowing facilities. If an invoice has to be prepared for unpaid fines, a handling charge of £5 is applied.

Fines can be paid by cash or cheque at any library during staffed hours. Please make cheques payable to Durham University.
