Document Delivery Service Renewals and Enquiries
Use this form to request:
- the renewal of an item borrowed through the Document Delivery Service
- the cancellation of a Document Delivery Service request
- or to enquire about the progress of a current request. (Please allow a week before chasing requests.)
Renewals are made at the discretion of the lending library and are not automatic. There is sometimes a charge for a renewal: check the bookmark that came with your DDS loan to see whether the item is renewable and if there will be a charge.
Staff and research postgraduates: Some departments pay for renewals. Check the table below to see if your department will pay for your Document Delivery Service renewals. (If your department gives you a set number of free requests each year then renewals fees will count towards your allocation. You may be charged (by your department) for requests and renewals once you use up your allocation.)
Taught postgraduates: The Library will pay for your Document Delivery Service renewal fees.
Undergraduates, retired staff and Library visitors: You will need to pay for any Document Delivery Service renewal fees yourself. You can pay your charges with cash at the Library, or you can pay online via the "Library charges" section of your online library record.

If you ask us to cancel a Document Delivery Service request then we will contact our supplier. Sometimes requests can be cancelled immediately, but other times they could take a while to cancel. There are situations when a request cannot be cancelled, for example if the book has already been posted to the library.
If you notice that you have made a duplicate request then let the us know as soon as possible because you may have to pay for both requests.
