Google Scholar: Publish or Perish

"Are you applying for tenure, promotion or a new job? Is your work cited in journals which are not ISI listed? Publish or Perish is designed to help individual academics to present their case for research impact to its best advantage."
Harzing, Anne-Wil (2016) Publish or Perish

Publish or Perish is software you can download for free, which can search fro, retrieve and then allow you to analyse citations to a set of publications. It uses citation data from Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic Search, and allows you to present a number of metrics based upon that data:

  • Publication Count
  • Citation Count
  • Citation Impact (Mean Citations per publication)
  • (and citations/papers per author or year)
  • Author metrics including the H-index, G-index and variations
  • Annual increase in an individual h-index
  • An analysis of authors per paper

Publish or Perish can be useful for authors who find that their publication output is not fully indexed in sources such as Scopus or the Web of Science, and so their metric analysis does not fully reflect their publication portfolio.

You can download Publish or Perish for free here.
