Bibliometric Research Indicators

Bibliometrics provide methods of extracting measurable data around publications and publication activity, and providing a statistical analysis of the collected data as one indicator of research quality.

This often focusses on citation data, and Citation Analysis is often used by authors, employers, funders and in university league tables to evaluate the ‘impact’ of those publications within the academic community.

It is important that Durham authors are aware of and understand what metrics are available, where and how they might be used, the limitations of various metrics and the tools available to you.
