University Library

E-books

The library has access to a number of full-text materials which may support teaching and research in Durham University. These web sites of varying types include:

  • Well known books available for general use on the internet, sometimes with search facilities included, enabling the text to be searched in a way not possible using the print versions.
  • Rare research material made available to the scholarly community either through digitisation projects, which preserve the appearance of the original text, or after conversion of the text for online display.
  • Portals such as MyILibrary and NetLibrary offering access to extensive collections of e-texts.

Some of these are open access, others operate on a subscription basis. It is these books that are available to search on the library catalogue and will appear alongside any print version of the book that we have. Carry out a search for these in the same way as you would for a print title, or limit using a keyword search and selecting the material type.

A full list of e-book suppliers is available from Online Information Resources.
