BUFVC Off-air Recording Backup Service

The University is a member of the British Universities Film and Video Council (BUFVC). BUFVC offer an off-air television recording back-up service on behalf of educational institutions that hold an Educational Recording Agency (ERA) license. The Off-Air Recording Back-Up Service currently records BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, BBC Radio 4, ITV1, Channel 4 and Five programmes. However, the service does not cover Open University programmes, which can be obtained direct from the OU and for which a separate license is required. BUFVC membership allows a member institution to request CD/DVD copies of missed television programmes broadcast since June 1998. Copies of radio programmes broadcast from 18th September 2008 will be delivered on CD as MP3 files.

Members of staff wishing to request a missed programme should follow the links from to the Television and Radio Index for Learning and Teaching (TRILT). You will need to login via your normal ITS Username and Password. Click on the blue ‘Access TRILT’ link on the left side of the screen.  You will be presented with a screen where you can search for and request programmes. Orders for requested programmes will be placed and received by the University's appointed representative, Colin Theakston, the University's Copyright Officer.
