Bamburgh Fellowships 2018
This year, thanks to the generous support of the Lord Crewe's Charity, we were able to recruit three Bamburgh Library Fellows.
Our first Fellow, Dr Anna Reynolds from the University of York focused on waste paper in bindings. Find out more about her research into waste paper by clicking on the binding.
In August 2018, Dr Giuseppe Guazzelli joined us from Palermo as the second Fellow. His research concentrated on the presence of works by the Roman Catholic authors Cesare Baronio and Roberto Bellarmino as well as their critics in the Bamburgh Library. Click on Baronio's portrait to find out what he discovered.
Dr Oonagh Quigley, our final Bamburgh Fellow, spent a month looking through the borrowers registers from the Bamburgh Library, alongside all the manuscript material relating to the late 18th and early 19th-century management of the library. Her aim was to unearth some of the past experiences of accessing books from the collection and compare those with present-day procedures. Her output was a plan for an online exhibition, which we hope we can put together in the near future. A brief description of her work will be available soon!
