Dynamic and vibrant, The Business School is one of Durham University’s four Faculties and is comprised of three Departments: Management and Marketing, Accounting, and Economics and Finance. The School aims to be a Top 20 European Business School, known for its global reputation, its impact on practice and its strong focus on ethics, responsibility and sustainability. With accreditations from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS and professional endorsement from the Chartered institutes of Personnel Development and Marketing, the school’s vision is to lead business thought and practice to improve global wealth and well-being. The School currently has 160 academic and teaching staff, with plans and resource commitments to grow to 230 by 2027. In addition, 10 funded research centres fuse leading theoretical perspectives with a strong emphasis on practice, noted in www.durham.ac.uk/business.
Our mission is to create, share and use knowledge to deliver equitable and sustainable futures around the world by advancing world changing knowledge and securing global impact through increasingly collaborative research across disciplines with colleagues in Durham University and beyond. We will seek to contribute perspectives that enhance the utility and impact of research in other disciplines with scholarship and methods that promote a more equitable and sustainable future for all. We aim to be a Top 20 European Business School by 2027.
Accordingly, we seek to recruit a Professor in the field of Human Resource Management, preferably with a focus on one or more the following areas: HR analytics and Big Data, Artificial Intelligence for HRM, Strategic HRM, equality and diversity.
We are looking for future colleagues who will lead and contribute to the development of world-class publications, the design and delivery of outstanding face to face and/or online educational programmes, creation of intellectual capacity through the generation of research funds and the delivery of new knowledge that has a discernible influence on academic thought and documented impact beyond academia. We welcome colleagues with a passion for student learning and a desire to enhance an inclusive community of learning, in and beyond the school.
We support our academic colleagues in publishing research in world-class journals, with a focus on quality rather than quantity. Our support for research includes including resources for national and international conference travel, seedcorn funding of research activity, a generous research leave policy, and a designated mentor. We also provide support for developing teaching skills and expertise and for engaging in innovative teaching and learning technologies aimed at continuous improvement of our teaching environment.
Durham is an exceptional place in which to base your career. Our strengths across the Arts and Humanities, Sciences and Social Sciences see us listed as a top 5 UK and top 100 global University with our students and our world leading academics sitting at the heart of delivering our ground-breaking work.
