Relocating to Durham

Relocation services

Supporting you with your relocation to Durham can start well in advance of your arrival. Once you have made the decision to join us, we are happy to discuss the relocation requirements of you and your loved ones (including pets), to agree and understand the levels of support you need. We will then work within agreed timescales to ensure everything is considered before you arrive.

We can provide practical information on living in the UK, from advice on the cost of living, opening a UK bank accountand obtaining your National Insurance Number to driving in the UK. We can even provide advice on what to bring and what to wear.

Area orientation

We can provide information about the area so that you can learn more about the region, and decide where to live.

We can provide helpful information on:

  • The local area, highlighting housing, healthcare, shopping, local authority services, parks, places of worship, sites of historic or cultural interest, leisure facilities and public and private transport networks
  • Local maps and useful links to events and activities to help you settle into the area

Please note the above services may not always be provided due to local COVID-19 restrictions. The Relocation Manager will be able to advise accordingly.
