Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
To apply for a new Tier 4 Student visa, you must have a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) issued by Durham University.
The CAS is a unique reference number which confirms that the University has agreed to be your Tier 4 Sponsor and provides information about you and your study to UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) as part of your visa application.
- A new CAS is required every time you apply for a Tier 4 (General) Student visa
- If you use a CAS issued by Durham University your visa will only be valid for study at Durham University
- The CAS contributes 30 of the 40 points that you need to obtain your Tier 4 Student visa
Current students continuing on the same programme
If you are currently a student at Durham and need to extend your visa in order to complete the programme that your current visa is for, or you are resuming your study after a period of suspension you can request a CAS online from the Student Immigration Office.
Please Note: Once we receive your completed CAS Request Form we are then required to undertake a number of checks on your status as a student. This will take up to 10 working days to complete, and we will issue you with a new CAS as soon as possible.
