Information Governance

Requesting Information

Durham University is committed to protecting the personal data with which it is entrusted. It provides access to such data to individuals and others in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulations and the UK Data Protection Act 2018. Equally it committed to sharing information as required of a public body under the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR).

Before submitting a new FOI or EIR request, you may find the information already available on the University website, where a search facility is available to help you find the right information. The University regularly maintains publicly available information in line with its Publication Scheme.

Freedom of Information Requests

A request must be made in a permanent form by a named individual supplying a correspondence address, whether that be a postal address or an email account. Please write to:

Subject Access Requests

If you wish to request information we hold about you, or in certain circumstances to request personal data about someone other than you, i.e. make a subject access request under current data protection legislation, please refer to the Subject Access Request page for information.

A charge may be made for the provision of information. Further details will be provided before the request is completed.
