IAS Fellow's Public Lecture - Poetry Reading
Breathing Light: The Poetry of Plants
A year-long Residency at Moorbank, Newcastle University's Botanic Garden, prompted further exploration of the 'exotic' plants under glass in their natural habitats. Linda will be reading new poems that will form the core of a new collection, currently titled Heliconia, from her research trip to Botanic Gardens in Padua, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo. She will consider the influence of light, climate and ideas of otherness on her investigations into how to read what isn't written, translate the visual into the verbal and achieve the indefinable 'lightness' poetry requires.
This poetry reading is free and open to all.
