The Enchantment of Ideas

On October 11th 2006 the Institute of Advanced Study was formally inaugurated as a new research venture at Durham University.  To mark the occasion the then Vice Chancellor, Professor Sir Kenneth Calman, chaired a discussion on the Enchantment of Ideas between Dr Bill Bryson, Chancellor of Durham University, Dr Matt Ridley (Science Writer and Founding Chairman of the International Centre for Life, Newcastle upon Tyne) and Mr Peter Watson (Author and Journalist).  

The event took place at St John's College and was attended by senior officers of the University, academics and invited guests from the region and throughout the UK.  The event was recorded and is available to download by following the links below.
