Team Applications of the Realising Your Potential Approach

Estates and Buildings

Estates and Buildings have included the Realising Your Potential Approach in their Operations Manual for the new minor works framework contract which explains how the contract will operate. A preamble to the Realising Your Potential Approach is included and the 9 behaviour indicator tables have been modified to better apply to contractors.

A copy of the Operations Manual can be found at https://www.dur.ac.uk/resources/hr/realisingyourpotetential/EstatesandBuildingsOperationManualv2.pdf.

The Realising Your Potential Approach has also been included as a KPI within the overall performance monitoring regime https://www.dur.ac.uk/resources/hr/realisingyourpotetential/EBKPIScoresheetv2.pdf. As the Realising Your Potential Approach can be applied in many different ways initial proposals are asked for followed by performance reports at quarterly and annual review stage. This is scored and feed into the overall performance assessment of contractors. Contractors are expected to apply the Realising Your Potential Approach aspects at all times.

Procurement Service

The Procurement Service liked the principals of the Realising Your Potential Approach and have used it in induction, to inform training and development plans, annual development reviews, recruitment and staff awards. They have also personalised the Realising Your Potential Approach and created a list of appropriate behaviours for their staff. These behaviours have been grouped to create over-arching categories and have found that this helps to manage staff expectations. The list of behaviours are:
•Professional Approach and Image
•Integrity
•Ability to Communicate
•Working with Others
•Open and Impartial Management Style
•Customer Focused
•Technical Skills and Knowledge
•Organisational Awareness
•Committed to Continuous Improvement
•Risk Awareness
•Team Player
The behaviours have been mapped to the Realising Your Potential Approach.
