Annual Development Review (ADR)

ADR Policy

The ADR is an opportunity for staff to reflect upon their contribution to the university, to consider goals and priorities for the future and to discuss what support, learning and development will enable them to reach their full potential.

Rather than an annual event the ADR should be seen as a cycle of opportunities, at agreed intervals throughout the year, to meet informally to discuss feedback on progress towards objectives and to update or revisit any development plan identified at the initial ADR meeting.

To enable staff to fully participate in the ADR there are now different forms for different staff groups, for example there are forms for academic staff (with a dedicated section for teaching fellows), staff on research only contracts, professional support services staff, and operations and facilities staff.
