Projects 2015-16:

A wide variety of student-based environmental initiatives take place across the University every year including competitions, debates, formals and environment fairs.

This year sees a wide selection of events and campaigns for students to enjoy and participate in including:

Michaelmas Term

Water Awareness Make every drop count
Love Food Hate Waste Competition Colleges compete to reduce plate waste in their dining halls
Environment Week A week of activities and events to raise awareness of how and why to live and work in a more sustainable way
Waste Awareness A campaign to encourage waste prevention and correct recycling practices
A Festive Reminder Important steps to take in order to support environmental sustainability over the festive period

Epiphany Term

Earth Hour

A global campaign urging people to switch off their non-essential lights for an hour to show support for tackling climate change and protecting the planet

Energy Awareness

A campaign to promote and encourage good energy behaviours amongst all University students and staff

Inter-Collegiate Energy Competition

Colleges compete to reduce their energy usage

Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade talks, formals, quizzes, tea-breaks, free samples and the Big Fairtrade Bake

Easter Term

World Environment Day

Coordinated by the United Nations this day aims
to generate global awareness of the need for positive environmental action

Green Move Out

Students donate any unwanted reusable items before leaving for the holidays

Help keep our towns and cities tidy
