Former Student awarded OBE

Robert Barr was an undergraduate in the Department from 1969 – 1972 (University College) and was a tutee of Professor W.B. Fisher, Dr Ian Evans and Professor John Clarke. On graduating from Durham, Robert was awarded an ESRC Quota studentship at the University of Keele.

He then secured a position as Staff Tutor in Geography in the Extra Mural Department at the University of Manchester in 1975, transferring to the Geography Department in 1986. He took early retirement from the Department in 2005.

Since his retirement, Robert has been involved in social housing as a Director of a Helena Housing in St Helens and have been elected to Warrington Borough Council where he serves on the Executive dealing with planning and regeneration.
