The Royal Scottish Geographical Society has just released the December 2019 issue of its ‘Young Geographer’ magazine, an annual magazine edited by university students in Scotland, with contributions from throughout the UK. This issue, focused on ‘Arctic Perspectives’, features articles by two July 2019 Durham Geography graduates, Ella Standish and Ben Stowell.

As third-year students at Durham, Ella and Ben were both enrolled in the 2018 - 19 integrated BA / BSc module on 'The Arctic'. Conducting fieldwork in northern Norway, Ella and Ben developed specialised knowledge in Arctic resource potential and politics (the subject of Ella's article) and Arctic shipping infrastructure (the topic of Ben's article). Although Ella and Ben are both now graduated, they submitted these articles while in their final year at Durham.

We are proud of Ella and Ben for their accomplishment, and are delighted that the ‘Young Geographer’ has provided them with this opportunity for them to share their excellent work with the broader geographic community.
