Sutton Trust Teachers' Summer School
We held our final Sutton Trust Teachers' Summer School this year on 14-16 August at Collingwood College. This conference was a free residential event and built on the themes of the previous conferences to continue to support independent study skills in state schools with lower than average rates of progression to HE.
The conference looked at how to stretch your students beyond the curriculum, looking at research skills, project planning, academic writing, using resources and digital literacy. We will also provided practical resources to help ease transition for students from 6th form to Higher Education, including personal statement and reference writing advice from the Higher Education Access Network. There was a chance to shadow some of the Sutton Trust Summer School subject sessions. These included: Biosciences, Business Studies, Chemistry, Economics, Classics, Education Studies, English Literature, History, Law and Psychology.
The Sutton Trust Teacher's events are generously supported by HSBC and the Wolfson Foundation.
