Aims

• To develop in students an advanced understanding of New Testament Greek and its grammar.
• To foster the ability to use linguistic skills independently in analysis of New Testament texts.

Content

• An engagement with the advanced Greek lexicons and grammars (e.g. BDAG; F.W. Blass, A. Debrunner and R.W. Funk).
• A linguistic and exegetical engagement with one or two New Testament texts that raise complex linguistic issues (e.g. James; 1 Peter).

• Show systematic and detailed knowledge of lexical and grammatical aspects of New Testament Greek.
• Engage critically with key concepts and processes of inquiry used in advanced scholarship in discussion of New Testament texts in Greek.

• Apply advanced knowledge of New Testament Greek in making sophisticated judgements on matters of translation and of exegesis.
