Encore

What is Encore?

Launched in October 2018, Encore is Durham University’s lecture capture system. Encore enables our teaching staff to record the audio and any content shown on the digital projector during a lecture. These recordings are then made available to students on duo after one working day.

Encore uses proven technology to bring benefits that include:

  • Enabling students to revisit challenging sections of a lecture.
  • Providing an additional study aid for learning and revision.
  • Supporting students whose first language is not English.
  • Assisting students with particular educational needs and conditions.

Now enabled in 150+ teaching rooms, the Encore service will be rolled out to more spaces over the coming months with the technology becoming part of the standard AV equipment in all centrally managed teaching rooms.

Explore our guidance sections for more information about Encore and to discover how lecture capture can enhance the Durham academic experience.
