Research Summary

Launching in October, Encore is the University’s new lecture capture system, which will enable our teaching staff to record audio and digital content shown on the main screen during a lecture. These recordings will then be made available to students on duo, two working days after the original lecture.

Encore uses proven lecture capture technology to bring benefits that include:

  • Providing a study aid for review and revision
  • Supporting students whose first language is not English
  • Assisting students with particular educational needs and conditions

Initially Encore will be available in a number of selected rooms on campus, with roll out to other teaching spaces taking place during the Michaelmas term. By early 2019, the recording technology that powers Encore will be part of the standard AV equipment in all centrally bookable teaching rooms.

For details about what Encore will mean for you, please visit our FAQ sections above.

The University has also set out its Lecture Capture policy providing clear guidance to all staff and students on the use of the new system.
