Durham University Service for Students with Disabilities

Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs)

For those who have not been previously diagnosed, our trained staff are able to offer initial screening for specific learning differences (SpLDs).

When necessary, we can arrange appointments for students to see qualified psychologists, for formal diagnosis. We can also advise students how to proceed independently, if they choose.

Any student with a SpLD will be offered a range of support which may include:

  • Assistance in applying for DSAs.
  • Emergency loans of specialist equipment.
  • Exam concessions (if appropriate).
