Dr Mamtimyn Sunuodula, BA, PGCert, PG Diploma, PhD (Durham), FHEA
Mamtimyn Sunuodula specialises in the languages, information resources and bibliography of Asia and the Middle East. He currently works as the Area Studies Librarian at Durham University Library providing research and learning support to the students and the staff in the School of Government and International Affairs (Politics, Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies), the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hispanic, Italian, Japanese, Russian), Department of Anthropology and the English Language Centre. He is fluent in Chinese, Central Asian Turkic languages (Uyghur, Uzbek, Kazak) and has reading knowledge of Arabic, Japanese, Russian and Turkish.
His current research investigates how multilingual practices, language policies and identities are interrelated.
He worked for the British Library's Oriental and India Office Collections and BBC World Service before joining Durham University.
