Biography
I completed my PhD at the University of Oxford in 2012 and held postdoctoral appointments at Institute for Advanced Study, Perimeter Institute, and University of Oxford. I was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences in 2017, becoming Associate Professor in 2020 and Professor in 2023.
My research focusses on categorical symmetry: a vast expansion of the notion of symmetry in quantum systems. I lead a team of researchers as an EPSRC Fellow and PI in the Simons Collaboration on Global Categorical Symmetry. I am also an organiser of the Symmetry Seminar, an online seminar series on categorical symmetry.
I am PhD admissions officer for the Mathematical and Theoretical Particles Physics group in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Further information about PhD applications can be found here.
