Broadly, my research interests lie within typical and atypical development, but more specifically within the fields of attention and learning. My current research focuses on understanding how a child's experience in the classroom environment may be related to academic achievement, for children with and without an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Individuals with an ASD are known to have unusual visual attention patterns and to experience sensory overload from their environment which may impact upon their ability to learn in the classroom.
This research is funded by the ESRC, as a PhD studentship, with collaborative partners the North East Autism Society.
