Biography

Currently a PhD candidate at Durham University, I have obtained my BA in Translation Studies (1st Honour) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and MA in Translation Studies (Distinction) from Durham University.

I have worked as a freelance translator and interpreter for 6 years in both Hong Kong and the United Kingdoms.

As a part-time teacher in the MA Translation Studies programme, I am the module convenor for both Consecutive/Liaison Interpreting and Simultaneous Interpreting between Chinese and English. I am also involved in teaching translation theories, including Translation History and Translation Ethics.

I am currently co-organising the 4th Durham Postgraduate Colloquium on Translation Studies, which is due to take place in Palace Green on April 30 and May 1, 2016.

My research interest lies in the translation of contemporary Chinese literature, particularly the political focus of its reception in the West. My research aims to bridge the gap between translation theories and practice by integrating both linguistic and sociological approaches.
