Revd R. P. Whaite
I studied History at University College and Kings College, University of London, and Theology at the University of Oxford. I am currently Chaplain at University College, Durham and Solway Fellow in Early Modern History.
My research explores the intersection of religious and legal history between 1555 and 1712, particularly in the seventeenth-century, looking at the impact of confessionalization in responses to peace treaties during the Thirty Years' War. I am especially interested in the ways extra-European concerns might be made manifests in such discussions around sovereignty, territory and religious peace. This research is supervised by Nicole Reinhardt and Toby Osborne.
