Biography

Before joining the Centre of Foreign Language Study in my current role as Assistant Professor (Teaching), I worked as DAAD-Lecturer in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at Durham University.

I have been teaching German as a foreign language at different Higher Education institutions since 2014, including Leipzig University, University of Stellenbosch, and the University of Leeds.

After my BA in English and German, I studied at the University of Leipzig and the University of Stellenbosch where I completed a Bi-National MA in German as a Foreign Language in a German-African context. During my studies, I focused on curriculum design, cultural studies and the role of literature in foreign language teaching and learning.

In addition to my teaching commitments, I have worked as an assessment author and external examiner for the International Baccalaureate since 2018. Furthermore, I have been the outreach officer for German in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at Durham and have promoted German within and outside of the University.
