I joined the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (MLAC) at Durham University in 2015 having previously taught at Newcastle University (UK) and in the Middle East.

At Durham, I teach across a range of modules in Arabic Studies, working with students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the Postgraduate Advanced Studies of the Arab World (CASAW),

As a researcher, I have previously worked as the Postdoctoral Research Associate at Newcastle University, working on a heritage project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) that examined the histories and cultures of Modern Middle Eastern communities.

In addition to Higher Education teaching experience I taught Sixth Form students (Realising Opportunities Programme), and facilitated educational community workshops: Gertrude Bell Archive (archive material workshop for Middle Eastern community); Beyond Destruction (creative workshop with heritage material for Middle Eastern community); Old Low Light Heritage Centre (curated physical displays using archive material; presentation and talk for the wider community)

Prior to this, I worked, for several years, as the Cultural Advisor, Translator and Interpreter for various translation agencies and high-profile clients in the UK, including law firms, medical services, publishing houses and production companies.
