Biography

Background

After graduating in Translation and Interpreting Studies at Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, I specialised in Legal Translation (PG at Autonomous University of Barcelona). Then, my enthusiasm for language learning and teaching took me to complete an MA by Research in the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language (University of Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra University). I am currently a research student in the School of Education at Durham University.

Before coming to Durham in 2012, I taught Spanish language in secondary schools across the North East of England, the language centre of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Sunderland. I have also worked as a professional translator, mainly in the legal field.

At Durham University, I teach Spanish language in the UG programme, and I am also involved in the teaching of semi-specialised translation and in the supervision of translation projects in the MA in Translation Studies. I have also worked as a DELE (Diplomas in Spanish as a Foreign Language) examiner and I am currently the DELE Examinations Officer at Durham. I have acted as an External Examiner and I am an approved UNILANG examiner.
