What would you like your epitaph to be?
He left to pursue other interests.

Which historical figure would you most like to be?
Dr William Jardine a surgeon, co-founded the Jardine Matheson trading empire. Would have loved to have been at the start of Hong Kong.

What was the first record you bought?
Marc Bolan - Ride a White Swan.

What achievement are you most proud of?
My family, Chef to the royal family and chef instructor to the Ghurkhas.

What was your best subject?
Mathematics.

When was the last time you laughed and why?
I laugh every day. The last time I laughed was at my teenage son's reaction to the taxman's cut on his first pay check - poetic justice.

What did you want to be when you were a child?
A Black Watch soldier.

Where will you be going for your next holiday?
Jucaral, Cuba.

What skill or talent would you most like to acquire?
Tact and diplomacy.

Give me a picture of your ideal day:
Family breakfast, watch the children either ride or play rugby, late lunch/dinner with friends or family followed by games night finished off with port and poker.

On a scale of 1-10, how much do you care what other people think of you?

What's your greatest vice?
Following Scottish national rugby.

Blues Brothers.

Savage (from rugby days).

What's the worst job you've ever done?
Chef on south Georgia during winter.

I have many but Jasper, Canada or Queenstown South Island, New Zealand stand out.

Never been able to keep one.

What luxury item would you take to a desert island?
Ghurkha kukri - able to build anything with it.

What's your greatest induldence?
International rugby world wide.
