Receiving SMS/texts from General Practice
(25 May 2018)
Due to General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) the Claypath and University Medical Group (CUMG) is no longer able to communicate with patients by text message and/or email without their explicit consent. If you are a patient and would like to receive or continue to receive, text messages and/or emails from the practice for the purposes of health promotion, practice news, and for appointment reminders please either inform practice reception staff or complete and return the SMS/Text Messaging Consent form on the practice website.
The practice’s text messaging system gives patients the opportunity to text back to cancel their appointment if unable to attend and since its introduction has helped to greatly reduce the practice’s DNA (did not attend) rate freeing up appointments for patients which previously would have been wasted if patients did not inform the practice they were unable to attend. The practice would like, therefore, to encourage as many patients as possible to consent to their communicating with them in this way. After patients have given their consent, however, they should please remember also to let the practice know if their mobile phone number changes so that they can contact you on the correct number.
