Durham University Folk Society Ceilidh Dance

Durham University Folk Society will be hosting its second big ceilidh dance of this term on Sunday, 4 March 2018 between 7pm-10pm in the Fonteyn Ballroom at the Students' Union. Tickets are £3 for members and £5 for non-members on the door. No experience is necessary and our callers will be there to guide you through the dances. Everybody is welcome.

Environmental Fact of the Week

Did You Know? More than 1700 e-cards were sent from the Greenspace website during December 2017. General e-cards are available for any occasion to send throughout the year. Sending e-cards reduces the environmental impacts associated with producing and transporting paper cards. Would you like some help to stop smoking?

Smokefreelife County Durham are in the Palatine Centre every Monday lunchtime until 9 April 2018 to provide advice and support to both staff and students that would like to stop smoking. If you are interested in accessing this free and confidential stop smoking service please drop in to the Student Support Hub in room PC063 anytime between 12 noon and 2pm. Smokefreelife provides a selection of stop smoking medications to help you lead a healthier and smoke free lifestyle. It is an ‘e-cig’ friendly service and offers behavioural support. Police appeal

The following is a message from Durham Constabulary. Detectives investigating a sexual assault are re-appealing for the public’s help to identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with an incident. The incident happened at around 2.30am on Monday, 12 June 2017 in the Oswald Block, Durham. Detective Sergeant Chris Woollett, from Durham Constabulary said: “We would like to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV image. Anyone who recognises the man should call us.” Anyone with any information should call 101, quoting incident number 33 of 12 June. The CCTV image can be viewed here

Progress on the Centre for Teaching and Learning

Students wanted for Pre-sessional Materials Trial

The English Language Centre is looking for international students who will be in Durham at the start of the Easter vacation and who would be interested in helping the Centre trial new lessons for the summer Pre-sessional courses. Volunteers don't need to have taken a Pre-sessional course to take part, although they don't mind if you have. If you are interested in volunteering, please book through the Training Course Booking System.
