National Student Survey
Over 40% of final-year undergraduates have taken part in the NSS, and there's still time to give feedback on your experience as a student at Durham. It only takes a few minutes to fill the survey in online.
You’ll be encouraged by your Department and College to participate, and there are prizes for the Department and College with the highest response rates. The survey closes on Tuesday 30 April.

Registration Now Open For Summer Language Courses
The Centre for Foreign Language study’s programme of summer courses is now open for registration. Courses are available as nine week evening classes, as well as in an intensive format delivered over nine working days before the summer vacation. The latter may be of particular interest to students who wish to complete a level quickly and ahead of the new academic year. A 10% ‘early bird’ discount on the fee is available when registering for an intensive course by midnight Tuesday 30 April. Please see the website for full details.

Durham Student's Union: Changes
As a result of a number of changes to how the University is run, Durham Students’ Union will be represented on two new senior committees. These are the Provost’s Board and the Operations Board, both of which will report to the University Executive Committee. These changes will take effect from 1 August 2019.

Fourth Annual Wolfson Research Institute For Health And Wellbeing Early Career Researcher Conference
Registration and Call for abstracts or posters is now open. Calling all undergraduates, postgraduates, and postdocs involved in research. The Wolfson Early Career Researcher Committee invites you all to take part in the Fourth Annual Wolfson Research Institute for Health and Wellbeing Early Career Researcher Conference taking place at Durham University on Friday 14 June 2019.
Come and showcase the importance and impact of your research. The deadline for abstract submissions is Friday 5 April, 300 words (max). Please email your abstract to firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to welcoming you to the conference and learning about your work. Abstract guidance is available at the link below. There will be a prize for best oral and poster presentations. All abstracts and posters will be reviewed by the Wolfson ECR Committee and will be selected on the basis of set criteria. Successful participants will be notified by Tuesday 23 April.
Health and Safety Workshops For Principal Investigators
H&S Services are re-launching the Introduction to Managing H&S for Principal Investigators workshops. They are an opportunity for participants to gain an insight into the key components of effective H&S management in a research-based environment and provide staff with an awareness of the underlying legislative principles and business drivers.
The workshops are primarily aimed at new and existing academic staff overseeing research in laboratories or higher-risk fieldwork activities in the Faculties of Science and Social Sciences and Health.
