What to do if you develop Covid-19 symptoms after having the vaccine

(14 May 2021)

Like all medicines, vaccines can cause side effects. Most of these are mild and short-term, and not everyone gets them. Find out what to do if you develop Covid-19 symptoms after having the vaccine.

If you've had your Covid-19 vaccine and you develop any of the following Covid-19 symptoms:

  • A new continuous cough
  • Loss of, or change to, smell or taste
  • A high temperature

You must:

  • Self-isolate immediately
  • Book a Covid-19 test
  • Inform your line manager

Reporting in this way helps us to proactively manage University cases with local and national public health experts and enables us to support you during periods of self-isolation.
