Careers & Enterprise - Laidlaw Scholarships for Undergraduate Students
(6 November 2020)
Careers & Enterprise is once again offering 25 scholarships for undergraduate students to develop their research and leadership skills alongside their degree studies this year. This two year programme offers students a £6,000 stipend to support their scholarship activity as well as additional funding to help with travel expenses and some additional research costs. Supported by a member of academic staff, all scholars conduct one self-defined summer research project in their first year of the programme and in their second summer complete a project which will develop their leadership skills in an immersive environment (alongside a leadership training programme).
We have received a great deal of interest already from eligible applicants who are mostly first year students and new to the university. Working under the current circumstances, with less opportunity for face-to-face interactions, we are finding many are struggling to know how to approach a member of academic staff to support them. This is a fantastic opportunity for undergraduates – please could you help raise awareness of this opportunity to first years (or first/second years on a 4 year programme) and help signpost interested students to an appropriate member of staff if you are approached.

We are also holding online drop-in Q&A sessions for academic staff (details below) and would welcome the opportunity to answer any questions you may have in person..
