Free change management course in September

(4 September 2020)

Acclaimed free online course ‘Leading and Managing People-Centred Change’ will run again in September 2020. Registration is now open for one of the Business School’s most popular open online courses: Leading and Managing People - Centred Change. The last time the course ran it had over 1,000 registrations and received some excellent feedback. This course will start on Monday 7 September 2020 and will run over three weeks in association with FutureLearn. Book your place here

About the course

If you’re looking to learn how to bring people with you as you lead or manage organisational change and navigate challenges along the way, then this online course could be for you! It offers insight and research into the latest thinking for people new to leadership roles and practitioners in human resources, organisational development and internal communications. Change does not need to be overwhelming if it is managed well – find out how.

The course is being delivered by Professor Julie Hodges, Associate Dean for MBA and DBA Programmes and Professor in Management. Professor Hodges’ research interests are in change and the impact of change and transformation on people in organisations.

Student feedback

Along with the excellent feedback received from the FutureLearn student survey, the last run of this course generated some very positive feedback on social media. Albert Oktovanius’s LinkedIn post is a good example:

“Amazing way to start my weekend!

Just received this Certificate of Achievement from Durham University and Durham University Business School on passing the ‘Leading & Managing People-Centred Change’ three-week course. Led by Professor Julie Hodges, this course has really contributed to my own knowledge and expertise in change management. Even as a change management practitioner for some years, I can still learn more valuable points.

Some highlights that I love from this course:

1. How it discussed about ethics in managing change and how you can deal with it.

2. Real life examples and case studies from Professor Hodges’ and the team’s experience handling change management across the globe(!)

3. Systematic and easy to understand story lines and contents.

Kudos to the team behind this course!”
