Respect: creating an environment where we can all flourish

(24 July 2020)

We have this week published the Report of the Durham Commission on Respect, Values and Behaviour, which was set up to understand experiences of studying and working at the University and what can be done to create positive change. For more information, please visit our web pages.

As a University, we believe that everyone has the right to study and work in an environment that is respectful and where people feel comfortable to be themselves and flourish.

We have this week published the Report of the Durham Commission on Respect, Values and Behaviour, which was set up to understand experiences of studying and working here and what can be done to create positive change.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Commission and shared your experiences, good and bad.

All 20 of the Commission’s recommendations for improvement have been endorsed by the University’s governance committees and a Working Group will now be formed to lead on implementing these recommendations and consider further actions.

We hope you will engage closely with the Working Group. Creating and sustaining a respectful community requires everyone to play their part.
