PGR Conference: Global Challenges

(3 July 2020)

Following the success of the inaugural Interdisciplinary PGR Conference in June 2019, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health is delighted to announce that they will be hosting a second interdisciplinary PGR Conference again on the theme 'Global Challenges' on Friday 20 November 2020.

The conference is scheduled for Friday 20 November 2020 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Durham and the Organising Committee invites proposals that fit the over-arching "Global Challenges" theme.

The conference will provide opportunities for PGR students to lead oral and poster presentations to promote interdisciplinary discussion about how research can meet societal challenges and effect change. The conference will feature a plenary lecture and workshops on academic networking and writing for publication.

Oral papers (presented in person or online) will be arranged in interdisciplinary sessions and papers may address issues in, for example, education, human rights, ethics, physical resources, business and finance, climate change, social order / disorder, justice, equity, mental health and international policy and relations.

Details regarding the presentation proposal submission process and the criteria that will be used for assessing abstracts can be found on the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health webpage:

The deadline for receipt of proposals is 5pm on Friday 16 October 2020.

Please note that there is no charge to PGR students presenting or attending the conference and refreshments and lunch will be provided. Registration for the conference will open to presenters and attendees from 2nd October.
